First, A Few Facts
  • Currently, fifty percent of undesignated contributions are placed in the endowment fund and fifty percent are made available for immediate use.

  • Donations are received from individuals, corporations and foundations.

  • Contributions can be designated for the endowment fund, for specific educational programs, or for the San Marcos Education Foundation programs such as scholarships or teacher mini-grants.

  • All donations remain in the community and are used to directly benefit local students.

   
What is the Education Foundation?

The San Marcos Education Foundation, made up of dedicated community leaders and volunteers, supports the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School district with student and teacher recognition activities and innovative teaching grants and scholarships. The business community and local leaders consistently stand behind education as one of the most important aspects for a strong economy.

The Foundation received over $400,000 in pledges and donations, which are making a difference in SMCISD classrooms by funding projects not possible in the normal budget process. The Foundation is certain SMCISD students are making a difference in our state, our nation, and the world.

The San Marcos Education Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt corporation operating independently with its own board of directors dedicated to supporting excellence in education.

Why was it established?

The Foundation was created to provide assistance to and to generate financial support for the San Marcos CISD. The Foundation provides funds not available through the District's normal operating budget for programs and activities to facilitate student achievement, to recognize and encourage staff excellence, and to provide a vital link between the community and the classroom.

   
The Mission

The San Marcos Education Foundation will provide resources to enrich teaching, inspire learning, and maximize opportunities for all students in the San Marcos CISD.

   
How can I help?

You can support the Foundation with contributions of cash, annual pledges, memorial gifts, real estate, stocks, planned giving, or other gifts-in-kind. Your donation remains in the community and is used to directly benefit students. The Foundation also welcomes the invaluable gift of your time and service.
